BACA - Bikers Against Child Abuse
I remember so clearly the day I had the opportunity to interview a few of the members of BACA. It was truly one of my most favorite interviews.
John Paul "Chief" Lilly who is the founder came all the way from Utah to share with us how the organization came into being. I listened intently, as I'm sure our television audience did as well. Chief is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Play Therapist. He witnessed daily the emotional damage that was inflicted on a child whose home life was always in a state of confusion and upheaval. So, he decided to take a stand and be a voice for children who couldn't speak for themselves. He was on a mission to help children have a better life. This video will explain even more.
Several of the Biker Members came to the show that day to show their dedication to not only the children, but to the founder of the organization as well. I was so impressed by their loyalty.
Since I had been a victim of child abuse myself, I knew first hand the trauma a child experiences. As Chief and the other men spoke I couldn't help but wish that BACA had been around when I was a child - to be my voice when I was too afraid to speak for myself. However, Chief assured me that now I was part of their family and always would be. Fortunately, I don't need the protection I once did. However, there are countless, frightened children in every town and city that need to know they have an advocate. As BACA members, so much of their own personal finances go into the efforts they make to help the children. I encourage everyone, if you are looking for an opportunity to give to others BACA is "good ground" to plant seeds of finances.
As the interview came to a close - I was honored when they allowed me to climb on the back of one of the bikes and "ride into the sunset" so to speak. I truly felt like I was part of the family of BACA and it made me proud to call them my friends. www.bacaworld.org www.makingithappentv.com
